Welcome to my Shih Tzu website
More
than 20 years ago, my husband gave
me a lovely black-and-white puppy
we named Mistle Toe Lee (she was a Christmas present). I had many
dogs before her, but Missy, as we called her, taught me how
special and wonderful the Shih Tzu breed is.
As
the years went by, we discovered that Missy had numerous health problems, but
that never lessened my love for her. I learned to deal with her allergies, and
help her avoid pain from her hip dysplasia and luxating patellas (also called
"popping kneecaps" for the way the joint pops in and out of place). We
learned how to soothe her tummy when her digestive problems acted up (yogurt
always seemed to work best!).
Although
I babied her all of her life, something she thoroughly enjoyed, when she was 15
years old, she taught me just how tough she really was. (See Missy's Story to
read about her recovery from a stroke and how she inspired others with her will
to live and be strong.)
Although
I loved her dearly, I vowed that the next Shih Tzu I got would be from
a breeder who bred for health as well as beauty and temperament. After
Missy passed away at the age of 18, I
was fortunate to find such a breeder in a woman named Sally Armknecht,
whose kennel name was Saro Shih Tzu.
I
ended up getting two Shih Tzu from her -- a black-and-white boy who is
my joy named KopKar, and a spirited little red-and-white girl named
Fanny who is a constant delight.
I
hope you enjoy my website and will come back often as I constantly
work to add to it. Thank you for visiting!
